Subject description

Prerequisits:

  • Enrollment in the study year.

Content (Syllabus outline):

Introduction to the production and processing of the multimedia content. Elements and formats of the multimedia content. Transition from analogue to digital production. Multimedia capture, storage, distribution and consumption systems. Text: Writing system, encoding. Raster digital images: Capture and processing. Vector digital images: Creation, manipulating objects, transformations. Video: Capture, processing and editing of digital video. Sound: Capture and sampling. Sound processing. Synthesized sound. Animation: Basics of animation techniques. Multimedia authoring. Different approaches and techniques. Professional issues regarding multimedia content. Intellectual property and enforcement techniques. For each multimedia content type storage formats, distribution and consumption techniques are also given.

Objectives and competences:

Introduction of basics, production, processing and integration of different multimedia content forms. Acquaintance with different multimedia content forms. Acknowledgement with tools for multimedia creation and processing. Understanding the production of text, audio, video, animation multimedia content forms. Understanding of content form integration into multimedia product.

Intended learning outcomes:

Understanding of background, techniques and processes of capture, creation, production and integration of multimedia content forms. Understanding the multimedia storage, distribution and consumption techniques. Understanding and acquaintance with multimedia processing tools.
