Subject description
Prerequisits:
- enrolment in the 2nd year of study,
- basic knowledge of high school mathematics, physics, modelling and simulation is expected.
Content (Syllabus outline):
- presentation of control design purposes and important control structures,
- introduction of cyclic control design approach,
- survey of control system descriptions, closed-loop transformations and analysis,
- computer aided design using Matlab and Control System Toolbox,
- description of important quality criterion in time and frequency domain,
- presentation of important control design structures and methods (on-off controllers, PID controllers, PID – tuning, root – locus analysis, Routh’s criterion of stability, lead-lag controller design in frequency domain, optimization using simulation),
- case studies of design using laboratory pilot plants
Objectives and competences:
- to introduce systems' control,
- to present the extend usage of control systems and the multidisciplinary nature of this scientific field,
- to present basic control algorithms of continuous systems,
- to introduce cyclic procedure of control design,
- to present some important computer aided control design features, which are important for efficient control design
Intended learning outcomes:
Basic knowledge of dynamic control system design.

- Lectures,
- laboratory exercises,
- homeworks,
- possibility of cooperation in seminar and project student's work,
- participation in excursions visiting industrial enterprices.
