Subject description
Prerequisits:
- Study enrollment and positive (passed) laboratory report is prerequisite for attending written examination.
Content (Syllabus outline):
- Digital signals, logic gates and circuits. Composition of a computer system, building blocks properties and functions. Design of digital systems using different technologies. Overview of programmable digital systems. System specification with a state diagram. Sequential and parallel task execution.
- Example of an application implemented with computer, microcontroller and programmable device. Overview of digital technologies according to power consumption, size, performance, price, development and implementation time. Understanding system specifications.
Objectives and competences:
Knowledge of various digital systems and building blocks, specifically programmable systems. Understanding functionality description in graphical form. Practical skills for design and evaluation of digital system according to application. Understanding system specifications.
Intended learning outcomes:
- Understanding building blocks of digital electronic systems using various technologies and use of programmable systems.
- Practical knowledge of graphical system description. Understanding sequential and parallel task execution. Being able to evaluate the system and prepare specification according the application of the system.
Learning and teaching methods:
Lectures and laboratory practice for learning basic theory and practical implementation of the digital systems.
